I’ve got a 2012 ZEV M 13 S, would this method still work?

This looks helpful for those of us with a locked-out ZEV M 13 S.

I can’t believe I found this. Been stuck with my ZEV M 13 S too.

Hope this method is better than the last one I tried on my ZEV M 13 S.

Trying to avoid a $300 fee at the dealer for my ZEV M 13 S.

Using this on my ZEV M 13 S now. Hope it works.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Lost Keys
Yes, a skilled auto locksmith can extract the broken key and make a replacement. They can often do this without damaging the ignition cylinder. The new key will need programming if it has a transponder chip.
Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.

Key Fob Issues
Common causes: dead battery (most common), water damage, internal circuit damage, or the fob lost synchronization with your car. Try replacing the battery first. If that doesn't help, the fob may need reprogramming or replacement.
Key Tip: Consider key insurance for expensive smart keys
Key Fact: Many cars can store up to 8 different key codes in memory
