Wish I found this thread before towing my Saxon Reaper.

I’ll try this and update how it goes with my Saxon Reaper.

Following closely—this could be the fix I need for my Saxon Reaper.

My Saxon Reaper's been in the garage for a week over this. Thanks!

Been stuck with my Saxon Reaper for weeks. This might be the fix.

Dealer wants too much just to reset my Saxon Reaper. Trying this instead.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Programming
Most transponder keys and smart keys can be reprogrammed if they haven't been damaged. Basic mechanical-only keys (no chip) can't be reprogrammed - they must be physically cut to match your locks.
Key Tip: Avoid exposing key fobs to water or extreme temperatures
Lost Keys
Costs vary widely: Basic keys: $50-$150, Transponder keys: $150-$300, Smart keys/fobs: $200-$800, Dealership replacements typically cost 20-50% more than locksmiths. Emergency/lockout service adds $50-$150.
Lost Keys
1) Contact a locksmith who specializes in automotive keys or your dealership 2) Provide proof of ownership (registration, title, ID) 3) They'll either cut new keys by code or reprogram your car's system 4) This is expensive ($200-$800) as the immobilizer may need resetting.
Key Tip: Avoid exposing key fobs to water or extreme temperatures
Security Systems
A flashing security light often indicates an immobilizer issue. Solid light suggests the system is armed but not recognizing your key. Causes: faulty key chip, damaged antenna ring, low battery, or system needs reprogramming.
Key Tip: Newer cars often require dealer programming for first key replacement
Key Fob Issues
This typically indicates: weak fob battery (replace first), damaged fob antenna, or issues with your car's receiver (often in the door handle or rearview mirror). Environmental interference from other electronics can also reduce range.
Key Fact: Some luxury car keys can cost $800+ to replace at dealerships
