How do I get the key code to program a new key for my PRC?

Hello! We've developed a VIN-based tool to help you get your key code for the PRC. Check it out here: VIN Key Code Generator.

Waiting to see if this will work on my PRC as well.

Thanks for sharing! Been looking for a key code fix for my PRC.

Worked on my cousin’s PRC—might work for mine too.

Got a dead key fob for my PRC. Need the code badly.

My PRC is basically useless until I get this code. Fingers crossed.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
Many cars have a resync procedure: 1) Press lock/unlock buttons while near the car 2) Insert key and turn ignition on/off in a specific pattern 3) Use a sequence of button presses. Check your manual for exact steps - procedures vary widely by manufacturer.
Key Tip: Newer cars often require dealer programming for first key replacement
Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Security Systems
Not recommended. Bypassing requires specialized knowledge and may violate anti-theft laws. Proper solutions: 1) Get correctly programmed keys 2) Replace faulty immobilizer components 3) Have dealer reset the system if keys are lost.
Cost & Options
Locksmiths are typically 30-50% cheaper than dealerships for key replacement and programming. However, some newer models (especially luxury brands) may require dealer-only programming tools. Always get quotes from both.
Key Tip: Newer cars often require dealer programming for first key replacement
Key Fob Issues
This typically indicates: weak fob battery (replace first), damaged fob antenna, or issues with your car's receiver (often in the door handle or rearview mirror). Environmental interference from other electronics can also reduce range.
Key Tip: Store your key code separately from your keys
Key Fact: Smart keys use radio frequencies between 125 kHz and 2.4 GHz
