Where can I locate the key code to program a Mitsubishi Eclipse key fob?

Hello! We've developed a VIN-based tool to help you get your key code for the Mitsubishi Eclipse. Check it out here: VIN Key Code Generator.

Thanks! This could save me a trip to the dealership for my Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Hoping someone can confirm this works for a newer Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Hope I’m not too late to try this on my Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Appreciate the tips—trying to unlock my Mitsubishi Eclipse key code too.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Key Programming
Most transponder keys and smart keys can be reprogrammed if they haven't been damaged. Basic mechanical-only keys (no chip) can't be reprogrammed - they must be physically cut to match your locks.

Key Fob Issues
Many cars have a resync procedure: 1) Press lock/unlock buttons while near the car 2) Insert key and turn ignition on/off in a specific pattern 3) Use a sequence of button presses. Check your manual for exact steps - procedures vary widely by manufacturer.
Key Tip: Keep spare keys in a faraday bag to prevent signal amplification theft
Key Programming
Some vehicles allow DIY key programming using specific sequences (like turning ignition on/off with original keys). However, most modern cars require specialized equipment only locksmiths or dealers have. Check your owner's manual for your specific model.
Key Tip: Always have at least two working keys to avoid expensive replacements
Key Fact: Some luxury car keys can cost $800+ to replace at dealerships
