Where's the key code hidden on a Kia Opirus for key programming?

Hello! We've developed a VIN-based tool to help you get your key code for the Kia Opirus. Check it out here: VIN Key Code Generator.

Following closely—this could be the fix I need for my Kia Opirus.

I’m in the same boat with my Kia Opirus. This looks promising.

I have a 2011 Kia Opirus, will this method work for that year?

Just checking in to say this helped with my Kia Opirus. Thanks!

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Lost Keys
Dealerships can often cut keys using your VIN, but will require proof of ownership. This only works for original factory keys - aftermarket or previously replaced locks won't match. The key will still need programming to start the car if it has a transponder.
Key Tip: Keep spare keys in a faraday bag to prevent signal amplification theft
Key Programming
Professional key programming requires: diagnostic tools to access the immobilizer system, key code software, transponder programmers, and often proprietary manufacturer equipment. Some locksmiths and all dealers have these tools.
Lost Keys
Locksmiths or dealers can: 1) Decode your door or ignition lock to determine key cuts 2) Access your car's key code through manufacturer databases (with proof of ownership) 3) Program new transponder keys using diagnostic equipment.
Key Fob Issues
Sometimes. Broken buttons can often be fixed by cleaning or replacing the button pad. Cracked cases can be glued. However, water damage or circuit board issues usually require complete fob replacement. Reprogramming is still needed for replacement fobs.
Key Fact: Key programming typically takes 15-30 minutes for professionals
