I'm stuck trying to get the key code for my 2013 Ford Explorer, hope this helps.

I can’t believe I found this. Been stuck with my 2013 Ford Explorer too.

Does this method work for the 2013 Ford Explorer models from 2010 onward?

Same problem on my 2013 Ford Explorer. Watching for any working solutions.

Hope this method is better than the last one I tried on my 2013 Ford Explorer.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
Sometimes. Broken buttons can often be fixed by cleaning or replacing the button pad. Cracked cases can be glued. However, water damage or circuit board issues usually require complete fob replacement. Reprogramming is still needed for replacement fobs.
Lost Keys
Locksmiths or dealers can: 1) Decode your door or ignition lock to determine key cuts 2) Access your car's key code through manufacturer databases (with proof of ownership) 3) Program new transponder keys using diagnostic equipment.
Key Tip: Some locksmiths offer mobile key programming services
Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Key Tip: Store your key code separately from your keys
Key Programming
Most transponder keys and smart keys can be reprogrammed if they haven't been damaged. Basic mechanical-only keys (no chip) can't be reprogrammed - they must be physically cut to match your locks.
Key Tip: Newer cars often require dealer programming for first key replacement
Key Programming
Professional key programming requires: diagnostic tools to access the immobilizer system, key code software, transponder programmers, and often proprietary manufacturer equipment. Some locksmiths and all dealers have these tools.
Key Fact: Key fob batteries typically last 3-4 years with normal use
