Was about to give up on my 1998 Plymouth Neon, but this gives me hope.

This looks helpful for those of us with a locked-out 1998 Plymouth Neon.

Does this method work for the 1998 Plymouth Neon models from 2010 onward?

Same problem on my 1998 Plymouth Neon. Watching for any working solutions.

I think my 1998 Plymouth Neon has the same issue. Good to know I'm not alone.

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
This typically indicates: weak fob battery (replace first), damaged fob antenna, or issues with your car's receiver (often in the door handle or rearview mirror). Environmental interference from other electronics can also reduce range.
Key Tip: Store your key code separately from your keys
Cost & Options
Some comprehensive auto policies cover key replacement, often with a deductible. Homeowner's insurance may cover keys lost away from home. Always check your policy details - coverage varies widely. Claims may increase your rates.
Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Cost & Options
You can buy fobs online, but: 1) Must match your exact model/year 2) Many still require professional programming 3) Cheap knockoffs may not work reliably. Some eBay/Amazon sellers offer programming instructions for DIY-friendly models.
Lost Keys
Costs vary widely: Basic keys: $50-$150, Transponder keys: $150-$300, Smart keys/fobs: $200-$800, Dealership replacements typically cost 20-50% more than locksmiths. Emergency/lockout service adds $50-$150.
Key Tip: Some locksmiths offer mobile key programming services
Key Fact: The average driver will lose 1-2 car keys during ownership
