Trying everything I can to get the key code for my 1992 Lincoln Town Car.

Just tried this on my 1992 Lincoln Town Car—anyone else have success?

Hoping someone can confirm this works for a newer 1992 Lincoln Town Car.

Has anyone gotten this method to work on a 1992 Lincoln Town Car before?

Can confirm it worked for my 2013 1992 Lincoln Town Car.

This thread might save my 1992 Lincoln Town Car. Thanks everyone!

🔑 Car Key & Fob FAQ

Common questions about key programming, fob issues, and replacement options

Key Fob Issues
Sometimes. Broken buttons can often be fixed by cleaning or replacing the button pad. Cracked cases can be glued. However, water damage or circuit board issues usually require complete fob replacement. Reprogramming is still needed for replacement fobs.
Key Fob Issues
1) Find the seam and pry open the fob (some have tiny screws) 2) Note battery orientation 3) Remove old battery (CR2032 is most common) 4) Insert new battery 5) Reassemble. Test all buttons - if issues remain, the fob may need reprogramming.
Key Tip: Avoid exposing key fobs to water or extreme temperatures
Key Programming
Common reasons: wrong key type for your vehicle, anti-theft system needs reset, low car battery voltage during programming, or the key isn't properly synced. Some cars also have programming limits (only 2-4 keys can be registered).
Key Tip: Keep spare keys in a faraday bag to prevent signal amplification theft
Lost Keys
Dealerships can often cut keys using your VIN, but will require proof of ownership. This only works for original factory keys - aftermarket or previously replaced locks won't match. The key will still need programming to start the car if it has a transponder.
Key Tip: Consider key insurance for expensive smart keys
Key Programming
Some vehicles allow DIY key programming using specific sequences (like turning ignition on/off with original keys). However, most modern cars require specialized equipment only locksmiths or dealers have. Check your owner's manual for your specific model.
Key Fact: Some insurance policies offer key replacement coverage
